Images of Excellence has developed a mounting concept using ABS Sheet as a preferred material for printing large pictures.
This concept has been developed as a quality alternative to canvas, paper, vinyl or other fabrics.
The concept provides a stable material that does not require the complex mounting and expense of 'Stretcher Frames', PLUS the expense involved in shipping very large fragile pictures, in which the combination frequently exceed the cost of the print itself.
Very large canvas or fabric picture mounted on frames are fragile and require special protective packaging to support the picture, and also to avoid any puncturing that can easily occur. Further the shipping of any flat lightweight box may be considered a special package by all carriers, and can be expensive and may also require special insurance.
ABS Picture Mounting:
Three basic design methods are used:
- Printing the picture directly onto an ABS sheet surface.
- Gloss Surface: Fine quality line and image brilliance
- Textured Surface: Provides 'Aged' effects
- Bonding canvas or other material to the ABS surface and then printing the picture.
- Print onto the canvas or fabric first, and then bond the picture to the ABS surface.
With all of the above methods the 'ABS' advantage eases the creation of large pictures to be printed into smaller sections as shown in the examples below.
